Tuesday Tunes 5/24

R.I.P. to Randy Macho Man Savage, he had a great entrance theme, but Hulk Hogan’s is an all time classic… Rapture was a dud, John recalled a great Pretty Woman song called what else, but King of Wishful Thinking… Little Apologize by Timbaland, an incredible song… Jacky Cheung, maybe all time classic and best HK singer… John’s favorite NES Ninja Gaiden song… and lastly summer is on the rise here in Boston, the perfect summer jam: LFO’s Summer Girls…

  • Karma Diver -WWF Hulk Hogan Real American Song
  • One of the greatest WWF theme songs for one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time.
    • Genre: TV
    • Year: 1986

  •

  • Stevie B – Because I Love You (The Postman Song)
  • Awesome song, John actually heard the techno remix of this first, but prefers the original version slightly.
    • Genre: Electronic
    • Year: 1989

Tuesday Tunes 5/17

Television has been tough without Lost, the Constant is still John’s favorite episode… Little Asian flare with wonder girls and Far East Movement… some old school songs from Bon Jovi and Cyndi Lauper… some movie soundtracks including Ghost and Jurassic Park…

  • Michael Giacchino – LOST Season 4 OST / The Constant
  • Best episode for one of the best shows. Incredible song, can’t watch this without tearing up.
    • Genre: TV
    • Year: 2008

  •

  • Cyndi Lauper – Time After Time
  • Sadly, John didn’t know Cyndi Lauper sang this song, only knew her as the weird girl on Celebrity Apprentice. The rendition on The Voice was wonderful.
    • Genre: Pop
    • Year: 1983

Tuesday Tunes 5/10

John’s Tuesday Tunes for this week is another mixture of a bunch of genres. His Ultimate Playlist on YouTube is getting larger, but more important more complete. Still got a long way for him though…

  • Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers Intro Theme
  • One of the great classic cartoons of the 80s along with Ducktales and kind of Darkwing Duck.
    • Genre: TV
    • Year: 1989

  •

  • Chicago – You’re the Inspiration
  • This song is just really nice. John came across this song from the highly addicting Nintendo DS game, Elite Beat Agents.
    • Genre: Rock
    • Year: 1984

Tuesday Tunes 5/3

John’s looking forward to watching Fast Five this weekend, nothing like the original Chinese movies though like Legend of Speed and Initial D… It seems like depending on whether or not William and Kate are fame whores, all the attention has been diverted to the death of Osama, John doesn’t have a whole lot of British music, but loves John Lennon’s Imagine… Razy Gogonea lit up the stage on Britain’s Got Talent with his awesome rendition of The Matrix to Rob Dougan’s Clubbed to Death track… Lady Gaga and Ellen share a kiss… Puff Daddy gets his own police escort to travel one block…  Nintendo 3DS has missed Nintendo’s targets by a little, most people blame lack of launch games.  Hello!  Punch-Out! for the 3DS, it would be gold… NBC apparently is apparently in talks to do a TV series of John Grisham’s The Firm.  Tom Cruise was great in that, but nothing comes close to Maverick in Top Gun… NBA playoffs are incredible this year, John misses John Tesh’s killer Roundball Rock piece that was the theme for NBA on NBC for so many years… “The Big 4″ consisting of Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth made history by playing the same show for the first time in America… NKOTBSB or New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys performed this past week on Dancing With the Stars, as great as BSB are, they gotta remember NKOTB were the first…

  • Jay Chou – Initial D OST / Drifting
  • 周杰倫 - 飄移
  • Such a cool song, goes real well with the movie. Initial D is basically what Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift was ripping off. Great beat. Fast and Furious is great, but it’s no Initial D.
    • Genre: Chinese
    • Year: 2005

  •

  • John Lennon – Imagine
  • It’s somewhat sad, but the truth of the matter is that John didn’t know who sang this song until a relatively recent episode of Glee. .
    • Genre: Rock
    • Year: 1971
