Boston Chowderfest 2012 – Anthem Edges Out the Victory

Posted on by John Lee on July 2nd, 2012 | 0 Comments »

John Lee had some out of country cousins from Vancouver visiting recently.  One in particular had not eaten New England Clam Chowder in over 8 years!  John thought to himself, what better opportunity than Boston’s own Chowderfest this past Sunday!  This was John’s 2nd Chowderfest…

Chowderfest took place on July 1st @ Boston City Hall Plaza.  There were seven restaurants competing and one of which had previously won the title just to show everybody whats up.  John recalled the last one he went to a few years back… it was pretty hot and humid.  That combination with eating hot chowder and no real drinks to wash it down made for a gradual grosser day.  This go around, it wasn’t disgustingly hot, and in the middle of the event there was a nice breeze.  In addition John didn’t cheap out and bought the $2 drinks in between rounds of chowder to quench his thirst and cleanse the palette.

Without further adieu, this is how John scored the contest:

John had a great time with the family.  He did end up fairly over-chowdered, he could go a few months with out going near chowder…. John actually had two restaurants ahead of the Hall of Famer.  And John’s top two were also voted top two!
